Sunset Metalworks was started in 2008 as a little division of an auto repair shop called Sunset Transmission. The name came from the street that the shop was located on, Sunset Dr. It began with the purchase of a kit to build a CNC Plasma cutting machine, and a desire to exercise my passion for building things instead of “fixing things.”
Metal wall art was my first type of product, and I opened an Etsy site to market it. My brother, a graphic designer, joined in to help with artwork. Though I do some drawing myself, the really detailed, awesome metal art in my shop is thanks to him.
Honestly, the goal at that time was to phase out of auto repair to just do some kind of fabrication or metalwork. In 2012, a new job opportunity enabled me to close the auto repair shop, keeping Sunset Metalworks as my “Side Gig” in a small shop at home where I still work from today.
From the very beginning, I have been constantly developing and trying out new products. As my wife likes to say, “It doesn’t shut off!” This has led to the categories of products that I have now.
Fire rings made from multiple panels can be assembled easily without tools, and disassembled just as easily to take with you or store when not in use.
An outdoor drink holder for camping or fishing, that will also hold your phone. Along with rain gauge holders and coat racks that utilize my metal wall art designs, make up the Home – Garden – Outdoors category
Custom Hinges are my most recent addition. They will let you add an original touch to a gate, shed, chicken coop, or any other kind of door you might think of.
Thanks for checking out my site and feel free to contact me if there is something you would like to see if I can make for you. Kirk
